高圧ダイカストは溶融した合金を高圧で金型内に押し出す工程で、一般的にはアルミ合金や亜鉛、マグネシウム合金で成形される。型形状は非常に複雑で成形されるパーツも各種広範囲にわたる。型の大きさや複雑な構造など多岐にわたる金型設計により、特有の溶湯の流れ方や温度分布をもつ。主な離型剤の役割は溶湯から型を守ることと鋳造後の離型性なため、離型剤は広範囲の温度領域で効果的である必要がある。
