Minimum Quantity (MQL) Water-Based Die Release Lubricants
Quaker Houghton MQL die release agents offer customers significant process improvements and reduced cost of operation over conventional water-based die lubricants. The products are applied directly to the die face, with no need for dilution.
Advantages over conventional die release agents include reduced environmental performance through elimination of effluent, improved lubricant film formation through reduction or elimination of the Leidenfrost effect, reduced process maintenance (when combined with QH FLUIDCAST™ applicators) and a dramatic increase in die life through reduction/elimination of heat checking.
Quaker Houghton offer a number of MQL solutions, from water-based products, to water free and the highest performing Lubrolene Electrostatic product range.
DIE SLICK® AQ series are a range of water-based high pressure die casting lubricants designed to be used with no further dilution. Products are available with or without active Smart Polymer release agent.
Siloxane containing products are formulated with unique and innovative Smart Polymer (SP) technology, a thermodynamically reactive polymer system that forms a tough, resilient lubrication film on hot areas of the die, while lightly coating cooler, less demanding areas. This results in reduced solder, producing bright and clean castings and eliminates the need for over-spraying in hot die areas.
The AQ series of lubricants bring significant advantages over conventional water-based lubricants, improving cost of operation by extended die life, eliminating the effluent stream associated with water-based lubricants as well as significantly improving the operational environment through reduced volume of spray. Cycle times and productivity can also be improved significantly.
